Back To School CAS Card

Have I told you that my craft room locks from the inside? I love that feature.

Recently (30 minutes ago) my kids were bouncing off the walls and each other creating more noise and chaos than I could I handle. So I sent everyone to their rooms, allowed my husband to stay in the living room and locked myself in my craft room.

I didn't really know what I was going to do in there so I started looking for challenges to enter. I found a few back to school ones and whipped up this clean and simple card.
I used Nate's ABCs (3") to cut the pencil. The paper is created using my Martha Stewart score board. Martha also slapped her name on the punch I used to create the boarder.

Congratulations Baby Card

Look! A non-DT post to share with you all. I think I'm finally getting organized; cleaning my craft space helped a lot too!
I made this baby card for one of my husband's co-workers who just became a grandpa. It's HUGE (12x4) so that all of his co-workers can sign it.
I used my Sizzix Big Kick for the first time in months! I used elephant #2. The stamp is a 1998 Stampin' Up. I used CTMH pear ink, Stampin' Up lucky limeade twine and October Afternoon sidewalks buttons. The elephants ears are popped up with pop dots.

Challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas - use pop dots, twine and 3 buttons
Krafty Girls - Anything goes
Little Scrap Pieces - Use pink
DL.ART - Birthday linky party

Crafty Creations Challenges - Summer Scene

Challenge #185
Summer Scene
Sponsored by: Whimsy Stamps
Good news!! I am now a part of the Crafty Creations Challenges design team! If you've never heard of Crafty Creations before you really should check them out. They are a challenge blog open to ALL craft disciplines with a new challenge every Wednesday!

Card Details:
I made this card entirely out of scraps. I used the Create A Critter Cricut cartridge for all of the scene cuts. The postage stamp frame is from Art Philosophy. The sand and castle are glued directly to the base while the crab and sun are mounted on 1/16" foam squares. The frame and leaves of the palm tree are mounted with 1/8" foam.

I invite you to stop by Crafty Creations Challenges to see what the rest of the design team created and enter your own Summer Scene project!!

Celebrate The Occasion - Child's Birthday Challenge

This week at Celebrate The Occasion we're celebrating that special child's birthday! My layout is from (if you're a regular follower of my blog you know what I'm going to say here) two years ago! This was my son's first birthday. It was a perfect day for the middle of May in Minnesota. We spent the morning at the zoo and had cupcakes to celebrate after dinner (which you can see was macaroni and cheese for him)!

Challenge #77
Child's Birthday

Here's my layout:
My background cardstock is Recollections and the accent paper is Close To My Heat, Dotty For You.
I used one of the stamp sets that comes with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge for the "Happy Birthday" and cupcake. The candle sticker representing the number one is by EK Success.
I used Liquid Glass to secure my We R Memory Keepers floss. The banners are inked with chocolate chalk ink and are Bella Blvd.

I pleated the ribbon here and in the opposite corner. I also added triangle stickers in both corners.

The doodling along the top and bottom was done with the Sew Stamper and circle doodle head.
All of the stickers on this layout are Bella Blvd. I used my glitter gelly roll pen to add a touch of sparkle in random spots throughout the layout. I plan to journal in the orange quote bubble.

We welcome you to stop by Celebrate The Occasion to see what the rest of the design team has created and join in the fun!

Scrapbook Room Reveal Hop

Welcome to the Scrapbook Room Reveal Blog Hop!

Don't you just LOVE seeing where other crafters create? and get ideas for how to organize your own space? I know I do!

We hope you will join us this weekend and take a peek into our craft spaces. Our hostess Cicily, at www.PinkDalmationScrapper.blogspot.com has a couple of great prizes to those who take the time to check out our spaces!

This is my scrap room.
I share the space with a bed and play space for my children. My little corner ends up being about 6' x 8'.
Since signing up for this hop I took the opportunity to really make this room exactly what I wanted it to be. So I want to thank Cicily for hosting this hop and having me be a part of it. IKEA also thanks you!
This is my desk. I try to keep very little on it so I have plenty of room to spread out the supplies I'm working with at any given time. My desk is from IKEA. It's one of those where you can pick your top and leg combination. I love this frosted glass top. It has a small elevated edge around it so things don't roll off. It's also great for lining up my layouts and making sure things are straight.

As you can see I keep my Cricut and Gypsy on my desk. My gypsy is sat on the Creative Cutter Room exclusive bow maker (love that thing too!). I also keep my ATG and my giant can't-live-without Tonic paper trimmer along with a small notebook.
I love this wall and how it's organized! At the top is a curtain rod (from IKEA). I purchased rings with clips to go on the rod and hold all of my random embellishments. I'm the kind or person who likes to see everything that I have, so this is perfect for me.

The silver rod below the curtain rod comes from IKEA's kitchen department. I purchased 4 cups that clip onto the rail. They hold markers, glue, everyday tools (ruler, scissors, bone folder, etc) and misc. The open spot is for a hanging basket the IKEA offers but was out of when I bought the system. I'll use it to store my glitters, mists and liquid pearls.

My Cricut mats and Lawn Fawn stamps are simply hung on the wall with nails.
This is how I store my paper. I use the craft cubes from Michael's. My paper is organized by collection. I also have a slot for 8.5" x 11"; mat stacks, 6" x 6"; scraps that need to be trimmed, solid 12" x 12" and patterned-but-not-part-of-a-collection 12" x 12". The Sterilite drawers have my ink, clear blocks and Tim Holtz stuff in. The gray IKEA drawer unit holds my adhesives, embossing folders and dies, paint, heat gun and a lot of random stuff that I really should just get rid of!
I put all of my collections together in these 13" x 13" plastic envelopes. I include all the matching embellishments and any scraps I might have after completing a project.
In the three-drawer unit I have my clear stamps, wood-mount stamps and all of my Sew Easy, Sew Ribbon and Sew Stamper stuff. I would NOT recommend this cube to anyone. The drawers rest on top of each other making it really had to pull just one out.
The four-drawer unit holds my ribbon. I would recommend this cube. The drawers move independently and are really deep.
I have four of these square plastic boxes that I use to hold similar items.. One of them holds all the my Disney stuff (paper, embellishments, memorabilia, photos, etc.). Another has everything Christmas. The pink one is baby/pregnancy memorabilia and the fourth box has class kits from last years ScrapFest (I really should finish these before ScrapFest starts this year).
I use these small divided boxes to hold brads, eyelets, buttons, epoxy flowers, leather embellishments and other tiny embellishments.
This shelf was in the room when we moved in. I use to for my card box, punches, glitters etc (until I can get my hanging basket) and inspiration material.
I do have a few smaller trimmers too. I store those between the pink chair that used to belong to my grandparents and the cube system.
On the floor, next to my desk, is my scrap folder. I trim all my scraps down into rectangles and then sort them in this 12"x 12" plastic accordion folder (patterned, black, white, brown, red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (and I still have some open space at the back)). If a patterned piece of paper is primarily one color it goes into that colors slot.
Next to that is my Martha Stewart score board and the Huggies wipes box hold all the Close To My Heart stamp sets until I can find something a little more aesthetically pleasing.

Thank you so very much for stopping by today. I hope I've provided you with some inexpensive and unique storage and organization options.

Pause Dream Enjoy - Little Green Men Challenge

Challenge #34
Little Green Men
(UFOs, Aliens, Monsters)

So if you follow my blog with any regularity you know I'm extremely far behind on scrapping my holiday and big event photos. This challenge gave me the opportunity to scrap a couple of trick-or-treating photos from last year. I  love the layout and I hope you can find some of the interesting tricks I used inspirational.
For the cobweb I used my Gypsy and positioned the image so it was only partially on my mat. I used my Cricut markers to draw the outline first (I did this for all my cuts), then I cut the image. I had to use a pair of scissors to finish off some of the cuts. Now the image is see-through and pops up a little.

I used liquid glass to attach the brown twine to the back of the web and the happy little spider is mounted with a foam square.
I did the marker thing again on my house, monsters and fence. On the house, mummy and fence I drew the detail cuts and then hid them with my gypsy so they would only be drawn and not cut. My fence and mummy are mounted with thin foam squares and my ghost is mounted with a slightly thicker one.
My stickers and background paper are Echo Park's Apothecary line. The kraft-like paper is by Basic Grey. In this photo you can see how I distressed the edges of my photo mats. I also used a green and brown chalk ink to add a color distress.

Celebrate The Occasion - Christmas Challenge

Our challenge at Celebrate the Occasion this week will help you get a jump start on the holidays. Or, if you're a scrapbooker, finish up a page or two from the two years worth of photos you still have left to scrap. Or is that just me?!?

Challenge #75
Christmas In August

Here's what I made:
Everything but the crinkle ribbons (unknown manufacturer), polka dot ribbon (American Crafts) and red shimmer cardstock (Recollections) are from the Blitzen line by BoBunny.
I used the CCR exclusive bow maker to construct all of my bows. This piece of chipboard was a little plain so I used jewels from the line to spice it up a little.
The edge of this tag was inked in Fired Brick distress ink. You can kind of tell in this picture that I used a glitter gelly roll pen to highlight all of the thin ribbons on the gifts printed on the paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and make sure to head over to Celebrate The Occasion to see what the rest of the design team created and join in our challenge.

Easel Card Blog Hop

Thank you so much for joining us for the Easel Card Blog Hop! If you came from Jamie's Blog, you're in the right place. If you're just stopping by and would like to join us from the begining you can head over to Ashley's Blog and join in the fun!

Here is my project:
I bulit my easel card on a foundation of matchbox drawers.
I then filled all the drawers with nuts!
Each drawer is pulled open using a mini brad that's only loosely fastened.
You can see here how I arranged the four matchboxes to make the foundation. The rest is made just like any other easel card.

I used Create A Critter, chalk ink and the Creative Cutter Room exclusive bow maker to decorate my card. The green and yellow patterened papers are Jillibean Soup. The rest are Recollections and Close To My Heart.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

I'm a Red Carpet Studio Designer

Red Carpet Studio is a brand new challenge blog launching September 2!!!

Here's the rundown as to how our challenges will work:

- There will be a NEW challenge every week starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday evening. The challenges will alternate each week between a card creating challenge and a layout creating challenge. One challenge a month will be an anything goes movie-themed challenge where ANY crafty project can be submitted as long as it follows the theme. Both the card design team and the layout design team will participate in this challenge.

- There will be FOUR winners for every challenge. There will be a randomly chosen winner who receives the prize being given away by our sponsor and there will be three "spotlight" submissions that will be chosen by the design team. The "spotlight" submissions  will receive a badge for their blogs and will also have their cards featured on our blog. Our "spotlight" submissions will be announced each Tuesday.

Here's where the fun comes in...

Sticking with the theme of the challenge blog, every month we will host an award show! The winners of each challenge every week will compete against each other at the end of the month. When I say "compete," I mean their projects will be voted on by fellow bloggers. The winner of each "category" will receive a custom-made trophy badge to display on their blogs.

Each "category" of the award show is determined by the challenge theme. For example, let's say one week was a card sketch challenge. The four winners of the sketch challenge (the randomly chosen winner and the spotlight submissions) would be up against one another at the end of the month in the "Sketch" category, and bloggers can vote for which card they like best (all cards will be displayed on the award show page). There will be four categories in each award show, one for each month's four challenges.

The award show will take place the first week of every month during which voting will be available. For instance, the award show for September will occur during the first week of October so that all of September's challenges can be included in the show.

Be sure to stop by Red Carpet Studio to meet the rest of the design team!

Pause Dream Enjoy - Farm Challenge

Challenge #32
Farm

For this weeks project I decided to make a card. My farm scene cut is from Nate's ABCs and is cut at 4". If you plan to make this cut I would HIGHLY suggest you cut it larger than that. I ended up having to use a marker to color the weather vain and hand draw the fence and clouds.
I used the Close To My Heart Word Collage stamp set to create my sentiment. The rectangle is colored/distress with three different shades of yellow Colorbox chalk ink. I used a Maya Road mini clothespin to attach the sentiment. The twine is We R Memory Keepers and I un-twisted the ends. I used yellow to artistically represent the sun.

Thank you for playing along with our Summer Time challenge. Today we have a great new challenge for you.

Theme:
Friendship

Today is the last day for Design Team 1 at Creative Cutter Room, which I am a part of. I've really enjoyed my time with these fabulous ladies and hope you have been able to find some inspiration in the projects I've created over the last six months.

Here is my project:

I used a lot of Lawn Fawn here! I just love their products. All of the paper is from the Bright Side line. I used From My Kitch Cricut cartridge for the recipe tab and Art Philosophy for the scallop circle.
The brads are from Oriental Trading and the washi tape is by Smash.
I used the sticker alphas included with Bright Side for my title. The stamps are also Lawn Fawn and come from the Gnome Sweet Gnome set.
The journal cards are from Bright Side and the stamps are Gnome Sweet Gnome again. I used my Sew Stamper to create the boarder and all of my elements are inked with black chalk ink.

Today we have a special sponsor! Emma from My Creative Time has donated a stamp set to the winner of this challenge!
