So if you follow my blog with any regularity you know I'm extremely far behind on scrapping my holiday and big event photos. This challenge gave me the opportunity to scrap a couple of trick-or-treating photos from last year. I  love the layout and I hope you can find some of the interesting tricks I used inspirational.

For the cobweb I used my Gypsy and positioned the image so it was only partially on my mat. I used my Cricut markers to draw the outline first (I did this for all my cuts), then I cut the image. I had to use a pair of scissors to finish off some of the cuts. Now the image is see-through and pops up a little.

I used liquid glass to attach the brown twine to the back of the web and the happy little spider is mounted with a foam square.

I did the marker thing again on my house, monsters and fence. On the house, mummy and fence I drew the detail cuts and then hid them with my gypsy so they would only be drawn and not cut. My fence and mummy are mounted with thin foam squares and my ghost is mounted with a slightly thicker one.

My stickers and background paper are Echo Park's Apothecary line. The kraft-like paper is by Basic Grey. In this photo you can see how I distressed the edges of my photo mats. I also used a green and brown chalk ink to add a color distress.

Celebrate The Occasion - Christmas Challenge

Our challenge at Celebrate the Occasion this week will help you get a jump start on the holidays. Or, if you're a scrapbooker, finish up a page or two from the two years worth of photos you still have left to scrap. Or is that just me?!?

Christmas In August

Here's what I made:

Everything but the crinkle ribbons (unknown manufacturer), polka dot ribbon (American Crafts) and red shimmer cardstock (Recollections) are from the Blitzen line by BoBunny.

I used the CCR exclusive bow maker to construct all of my bows. This piece of chipboard was a little plain so I used jewels from the line to spice it up a little.

The edge of this tag was inked in Fired Brick distress ink. You can kind of tell in this picture that I used a glitter gelly roll pen to highlight all of the thin ribbons on the gifts printed on the paper.

Here is my project:

I bulit my easel card on a foundation of matchbox drawers.

I then filled all the drawers with nuts!

Each drawer is pulled open using a mini brad that's only loosely fastened.

You can see here how I arranged the four matchboxes to make the foundation. The rest is made just like any other easel card.

I used Create A Critter, chalk ink and the Creative Cutter Room exclusive bow maker to decorate my card. The green and yellow patterened papers are Jillibean Soup. The rest are Recollections and Close To My Heart.

Red Carpet Studio is a brand new challenge blog launching September 2!!!

Here's the rundown as to how our challenges will work:

- There will be a NEW challenge every week starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday evening. The challenges will alternate each week between a card creating challenge and a layout creating challenge. One challenge a month will be an anything goes movie-themed challenge where ANY crafty project can be submitted as long as it follows the theme. Both the card design team and the layout design team will participate in this challenge.

- There will be FOUR winners for every challenge. There will be a randomly chosen winner who receives the prize being given away by our sponsor and there will be three "spotlight" submissions that will be chosen by the design team. The "spotlight" submissions  will receive a badge for their blogs and will also have their cards featured on our blog. Our "spotlight" submissions will be announced each Tuesday.

Here's where the fun comes in...

Sticking with the theme of the challenge blog, every month we will host an award show! The winners of each challenge every week will compete against each other at the end of the month. When I say "compete," I mean their projects will be voted on by fellow bloggers. The winner of each "category" will receive a custom-made trophy badge to display on their blogs.

Each "category" of the award show is determined by the challenge theme. For example, let's say one week was a card sketch challenge. The four winners of the sketch challenge (the randomly chosen winner and the spotlight submissions) would be up against one another at the end of the month in the "Sketch" category, and bloggers can vote for which card they like best (all cards will be displayed on the award show page). There will be four categories in each award show, one for each month's four challenges. 

The award show will take place the first week of every month during which voting will be available. For instance, the award show for September will occur during the first week of October so that all of September's challenges can be included in the show.

For this weeks project I decided to make a card. My farm scene cut is from Nate's ABCs and is cut at 4". If you plan to make this cut I would HIGHLY suggest you cut it larger than that. I ended up having to use a marker to color the weather vain and hand draw the fence and clouds.

I used the Close To My Heart Word Collage stamp set to create my sentiment. The rectangle is colored/distress with three different shades of yellow Colorbox chalk ink. I used a Maya Road mini clothespin to attach the sentiment. The twine is We R Memory Keepers and I un-twisted the ends. I used yellow to artistically represent the sun.

Creative Cutter Room - Friendship - My Last DT Post :(

Today is the last day for Design Team 1 at Creative Cutter Room, which I am a part of. I've really enjoyed my time with these fabulous ladies and hope you have been able to find some inspiration in the projects I've created over the last six months.

Here is my project:



I used a lot of Lawn Fawn here! I just love their products. All of the paper is from the Bright Side line. I used From My Kitch Cricut cartridge for the recipe tab and Art Philosophy for the scallop circle.

The brads are from Oriental Trading and the washi tape is by Smash.

I used the sticker alphas included with Bright Side for my title. The stamps are also Lawn Fawn and come from the Gnome Sweet Gnome set.

The journal cards are from Bright Side and the stamps are Gnome Sweet Gnome again. I used my Sew Stamper to create the boarder and all of my elements are inked with black chalk ink.
