"Safari Breakfast" Layout

I'm having so much fun playing along at Child's Play Challenges this month! The inspiration book this month is "Where The Wild Things Are".

As soon as I saw the challenge I knew I was finally going to scrap the over-priced souvenir photo we bought at our safari breakfast at Tusker House in Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I used BoBunny's Zoology collection.
*Don't you just love how I had to turn my back to Donald. My daughter was scared out of her mind! They both cried every time one of the character's came to our table.

"1 Wild Ride" Layout

This month's classic toy challenge at Child's Play Challenges is cozy coupe.

My son does have a cozy coupe, it's a police car, but I don't have any pictures of him with it. Instead I decided to take the car inspiration and used a photo of my daughter on this horrible car ride at the local amusement park. She thought it was a blast but I was feeling quite sick by the time we got off it.

I used Lily Bee Design's "Happily Lost" collection.

I stuck these pennant stickers on white cardstock and trimmed around them leaving a boarder similar to my layered photo mat.

I used mostly stickers to embellish my layout,

cutting them when necessary

and overlapping to add dimension.

I also used stickers for my title, applying them directly on my photo (something I'm always afraid to do,but I love how this turned out).

I'm not a camper. I enjoyed it in the Girl Scouts but have lost interest with age. My husband, who grew up in a major city and thought South Dakota was to rural even though we lived in the 5th and 6th largest cities, can't wait to take the kids camping. So I made a layout to have on hand just in case this ever happens!

My Cricut Craft Room - Brads/Eyelets - And My Last DT Post

Hi everyone! This will be my last DT post for My Cricut Craft Room. I've had a lot of fun but my crafting is starting to take me away from my Cricut. I've been using fewer and fewer cuts on my projects and feel it's time to step away from this team.

I'm not abandoning my Cricut entirely or even My Cricut Craft Room. I still hope to take part in the swaps that Erica and our lovely DT member Doris organize on Facebook. One of the card swaps for July is Birthday Cards and this is the card that I'll be swapping.

I used papers from the Close To My Heart Dotty For You paper pack. My flourish is cut from Art Philosophy.

I used a boarder on Art Philosophy and my Gypsy to create this frame. The sentiment is from a Close To My Heart stamp set. The inside reads "wondering what happened!".

This butterfly is also from Close To My Heart.

These brads came from Oriental Trading Company and I've had them in my stash for over 3 years.

"Record Breaking Fun" Layout

The board game challenge this month at Child's Play Challenges is Scrabble.

We play this game almost every time we go out to my mom and dad's house!

I took my inspiration from the grid on the board and made this layout.

I used the Lily Bee Design "Happily Lost" collection.

I layered two stickers, added the date in stickers, cut two hearts and added yellow staples.

Here I layered two stickers, used one for journaling, added a paper circle and yellow staples again.

This is another journaling sticker layered with an accent sticker.

I mounted the pennant stickers on cardstock, cut them out and used foam squares to apply them to the layout. My title is done in stickers.

Child's Play Challenges DT Submision

Have you heard of Child's Play Challenges? They're a scrapbook challenge blog where the focus is kids! All of there challenges are inspired by kid things like books, games, toys and crafts.

For the DT call you need to create a layout with this toy as the inspiration.

My Cricut Craft Room - Playground Layout

There is nothing my 3 year old daughter would like to do more than spend the day at a park. This layout commemorates the last time we spent at a park as a family of three.

I fussy cut this flower from a sheet of Lawn Fawn's Bright Side.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpas, uncles and special men out there. I enlisted the help of my children to make a Father's Day gift for my dad.

So what could be in that fabulous wrapping paper hand made by my 2 and 3-year-old?

This fun little lure box!! I cut the water from Everyday Paper Dolls and the fish from Create A Critter. My 3-year-old then glued them onto the box.

This was a quick and simple gift that Grandpa is sure to love!

My Cricut Craft Room - Independence Day

Welcome and Happy Flag Day! Today I have a card celebrating America to share with you.

I used the Close To My Heart stamp set American Celebration. This stamp set has 3 images that coordinate with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

I used a number of stamping techniques to create this card. All of my edges are inked with Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap and the star boarder is stamped with Tea Dye. I used American Crafts stamp markers to add color to my stamps exactly where I wanted it - this is how I got the two tone images. For the background paper that I created I used a technique call Second-Generation Stamping. To do this you ink up your stamp and stamp it once on scrap paper. Then you stamp again, without adding additional ink, on your paper. This gives your a great light, distressed image. I also used the second-generation stamping technique with the flag.

My card is what is known as a Joy Fold Card. To make this card you will need:

• One 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock - score at 5 1/2" (blue)
• One 3" x 8" piece of cardstock - score at 4" (red)
• Two 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" pieces of cardstock or designer paper (inside and outside of red piece)
• One 4" x 5 1/4" piece of of cardstock or designer paper (inside blue)
• One 2 3/4" x 4" piece of cardstock or designer paper (outside blue)

I positioned my smaller piece (red) by eye. To keep the card closed I used Art Philosophy to cut a 1" scalloped circle that I stamped and used a foam square to adhere.

Talk Time Tuesday - Creative Cutter Room

Have you ever designed the perfect layout or title on your gypsy only to have translate not so perfectly to paper? Well I have a few tips for you today that will hopefully help to get on paper what you see on your screen.

To start with, I designed yet another Disney layout on my gypsy. This is what it looks like on the screen.

You can see I have my title on two lines and my frame centered left-to-right but slightly higher than vertical center.

So how do I get my title to be straight, center and spaced just like I see it on my screen? Well I use my negative paper as a stencil! Let me show you how.

First I "hide" my frame and pumpkin cuts so my screen looks like this.

You can see my title is still exactly where I want it on my finished layout. I then cut this on a full sheet of paper. It comes out looking like this:

At this point I line up my cut paper with my background paper. If one sheet is slightly larger than the other make sure your upper left-hand corner is lined up.

Now you'll want to apply adhesive to your letter and use your template to apply those letters to your background paper.

As you apply your letters make sure you lift up on your template paper every once in awhile. This helps ensure you're not gluing your template to your background.

This is what it will look like when you have all your letters glued down.

Once you remove your template you'll be left with a title that is perfectly straight, centered and spaced.

This technique also works on images.

1) Cut your image.

2) Line up your template paper on your background paper. Make sure the upper left-hand corner is square.

3) Add adhesive to your image and line up with your template.

4) Remove your template.

You'll be left with a perfectly aligned frame that is centered, straight and exactly where you want it.

I finished my layout with a picture and mats as well as my pumpkin cut. Now my completed layout

looks just how I designed it on my gypsy
